Climate Change is indeed in the Philippines.

Its effects is already experienced in the past months. We have stronger typhoons hitting the country like Yolanda. The devastation was so great that thousands were killed and left homeless.

Habagat Flooding

Tapos na ang ulan ng Habagat at mainit na ang panahon, pero ang epekto nito sa mga lugar na malapit sa Laguna De Bay ay makikita mo. 

Dahil sa walang spillway ang Laguna De Bay, hihintayin lang na ang tubig ay mag evaporate para bumaba ang tubig sa lawa. Ito ay maaari pang tumagal ng 2-3 buwan depende sa panahon.

Typhoon Helen

Patuloy na maging mapagbantay lalo na sa mga nakatira malapit sa dagat, ilog, at nasa gilid ng bundok. Kung marapat na lumikas habang maaga pa ay gawin na lalo na sa binabahang lugar o mga landslide prone areas. Maaaring di tumama sa kalupaan ngunit hahatakin nito ang Habagat na magpapaulan sa Luzon.

Pagkatapos ng halos 5 araw na ulan na ibinuhos ng Habagat, nandito na naman ang bagyong si Helen. :( Manalangin na di maging matindi ang epekto ni Helen sa ating mga kababayan.

Mas mahalaga ang buhay kahit sa anupamang bagay. Maging sigurado at ligtas.

Signal No. 1 up over 7 provinces

MANILA, Philippines – Tropical depression “Helen” has intensified into a storm with stronger winds and faster speed causing several provinces to be placed under storm signal number 1.

Storm signal number 1 has been raised in Isabela, Kalinga, Apayao, Cagayan, Babuyan, Calayan, and Batanes groups of islands, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) said in its latest report on Monday.

“Tropical Storm “Helen” is expected to enhance the Southwest Monsoon that will bring rains over Luzon and Visayas especially over the western section,” Pagasa said.

Pagasa recorded maximum sustained winds of 65 kph near the center and gustiness of up to 80 kilometers per hour.

Its speed increased to 13 kph and still moving West Northwest towards northern Luzon.

As of 10 am, it was seen 550 km East Northeast of Casiguran, Aurora, Pagasa said.

“Estimated rainfall amount is from 15 – 35 mm per hour (heavy – torrential) within 400 km diameter of the Tropical Storm,” Pagasa said.

“Intermittent light to moderate rains (2.5 – 7.5 mm/hr) are now affecting Central and Southern Luzon becoming more frequent moderate to heavy rains (7.5 – 10.0 mm/hr) during the latter part of the day towards the evening over Camarines provinces, Quezon province, Rizal, Bulacan, Pampanga, Laguna, Cavite, Batangas Mindoro, Bataan, Zambales and Metro Manila,” it said.

Mabuti naman at hindi ito tuluyang naglandfall sa Northern Luzon. Manatiling handa at mag-ingat sa pag-ulan at pagbaha na maaaring idulot nitong bagyo.

Maghanda at patuloy na magbantay sa mga kababayan nating tatamaan ng bagyo sa Northern Luzon. Ang bagyong ito ay forecasted na tatama sa lupa kaya mas kailangan ang maagang paghahanda sa mga malalapit sa dagat, ilog at mga nakatira sa gilid ng bundok.

MANILA, Philippines – Signal number two was raised in more provinces of northern Luzon as Tropical Storm Dindo (International Name Doksuri) maintained its strength and speed moving closer to the country, the state weather bureau said in its latest report Wednesday afternoon.

The provinces of Isabela, Apayao, Kalinga, Mountain Province, Cagayan including Calayan and Babuyan Group of Islands, and the Batanes Group of Islands are now under Public Storm Signal No. 2 (60-100 kph winds), the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) said in its 5 p.m. report.

Signal No. 1 (45-60 kph winds) has been raised in Ilocos Norte, Ilocos Sur, Abra, Aurora, Ifugao, Nueva Vizcaya, Quirino, and Benguet provinces, Pagasa said.

Dindo has been spotted 430 kilometers east southeast of Casiguran, Aurora and was said to be maintaining its speed and direction at 19 kilometers per hour West Northwest.
Its strength has maintained at 75-kilometer- per-hour winds near the center and gustiness of up to 90 kilometers per hour, Pagasa said.

Dindo was expected to be at 190 kilometers east northeast of Tuguegarao, Cagayan by Thursday afternoon if it maintains its current speed and direction within 24 hours.
By Friday afternoon, Dindo is expected to be 210 kilometers West Southwest of Basco, Batanes, Pagasa said.

The estimated rainfall amount has increased to 15 – 25 millimeters per hour, considered as heavy to intense, within the 400-kilometer diameter of the storm.
Pagasa continues to warn the entire country against landslides and flashfloods that are brought about by the strong rains.

Fishing boats and sea vessels have likewise been advised to not go out to sea throughout the eastern seaboard of the country due to possible big waves and rough seas, Pagasa said.
National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC) executive director Benito Ramos earlier said that they are already on red alert since Tuesday afternoon.
