Bulgogi - Delicious Korean Food

It is always fun, exciting and an adventure to try different food in other places. I was greeted by the waiter.. "Good evening Sir! What is your order.." (in Korean style accent). My first choice was Bulgogi even I don't know what is the taste of it. Then its my turn to ask question.. "Does this one comes with rice?" (Filipinos cannot consider a good meal without rice.) "Yes!" I said in my mind, then, I am now happy.. :)

I had a chance to try Bulgogi - an authentic Korean food. It tastes sweet and juicy. The beef strips is very tender and you will enjoy eating the whole bowl.. ha ha ha.

Done some research in wikipedia...

Bulgogi (Korean pronunciation: [pulɡoɡi]; Korean: 불고기) is a Korean dish that usually consists of grilled marinated beef.

Below are the pictures.. Enjoy!!

Travel to Singapore with Philippine Airlines

Thank God its Friday!!

There's so much to be thankful for.. :)

I promised committed (this is more appropriate) to myself that I will write diligently every Friday. Hopefully this would become my routine in the weeks to come.

This week I was given a chance and a privilege to travel again to Singapore. A work assignment given to me by the office to fix something (upgrade of a system). Am I excited? Naah.. It is because the office booked me to travel on 02 Feb, this is a Sunday. Normally I spend the whole day in church during Sundays.

And this Sunday is special because the Single Working Men will present their special numbers in the evening service. The Mulawin Quartet that will be singing Champion of Love.

Anyways back to reality.. I have to travel to SG. I was booked to a 10:25 AM flight, Thank God.. normally they booked me in the 6:00AM flight which is too early..

Philippine Airlines or PAL is now awesome.. the boarding time is on schedule and even the departure time. Before PAL is being notorious when it comes to time.. Palaging Late! (They are always late). The stewardess and flight crew is very courteous and smiling. Plus points for them.

They are also prompt to help when you need something. Plus points again.

And the best thing about PAL is that they have a decent inflight meals.. unlike budget airlines like Cebu Pacific or Jetstar. But they have the same choice of food, Chicken Curry or Fish Fillet. Sawa na ako sa Chicken Curry... ha ha ha because I have been to a tanker vessel with all Indian Crew.. Curry in the morning, afternoon, and in the evening. Easy choice was to choose Fish Fillet. But something is missing.. the Goldilocks cake..

And for the dessert, it was a chocolate ice cream from Magnolia. The stewardess is too generous to give me an extra ice cream.. :D

Hoping someday they will have LCD screens on the chair so that you can choose the entertainment that you like.. But this will have additional cost. :(

Travel to Singapore with Philippine Airlines, all in all is an enjoyable flight.

Happy Chinese New Year - 2014

Kung Hei Fat Choi to our fellow Chinese-Filipinos. They are now celebrating one of big feast in Chinese Culture.

As a kid I was schooled in a Chinese school during my elementary days. Our Chinese teachers usually gives tikoy for good luck and a prosperous year ahead. Normally it is pan fried with egg.. I love it! :)

It will be the year of the Wooden Horse (I'll be busy chasing and running to meet my deadlines and projects). May we have a prosperous new year ahead.

Tikoy has evolved from a white color unflavored to multi-flavored with different colors.

And one best thing about Chinese New Year is that it is a non-working holiday here in the Philippines. It means that EDSA will not be congested in traffic today. :D

Beef Steak - Well Done

This is the definition of Steak from Wikipedia...

A steak (from Old Norse steik, "roast") is generally a cut of beef sliced perpendicular to the muscle fibers, or of fish cut perpendicular to the spine. Meat steaks are usually grilled, pan-fried, or broiled, while fish steaks may also be baked.

Beefsteak
The more tender cuts of beef, from the loin and rib, are cooked quickly, using dry heat, and served whole. Less tender cuts from the chuck or round are cooked with moist heat or are mechanically tenderized (e.g. cube steak). Steak can be cooked to a level of very rare (bleu, a cold raw center), rare, medium rare, medium, medium well done, or well done.

To appreciate a Beef Steak that is cooked well done.. I'd rather see, feel, smell, and taste it first hand.. :) This is the Beef Steak from a hotel in Mauritius... thanks to my company for the sponsor.. Enjoy.. :)

They are my buddies that fits perfectly to my camera bag.

Food photography with the models.

With roasted veggies and potato.

Beautiful arrangement.. :)

Up close and personal.. :)

British Airways Serves Good Sandwiches

British Airways serves good sandwich even in short flights.

In Cebu Pacific.. they serve nothing and they sell something.. :) he he he. A bottle of water at P50.. a can of soft drinks for P50.. a sandwich cost P100. But you can bring your own meal.

Words of Wisdom
"When travelling with Cebu Pacific.. buy a Jollibee Regular Yum Hamburger = P32 and a bottle of water = P12. Total damage = P44. Cheaper than Cebu Pacific's bottled water" :D

Cathay Pacific Hot Meals

Hot Meals for long flights is a relief to hungry tummies. This is usually served for flights that is longer than 3 hours otherwise you will get only a sandwich.

Beef in curry sauce with mashed potatoes... not good for Asian who prefer to have steamed rice in every meal. :(
The thing that I enjoyed was the
Häagen-Dazs chocolate ice cream.. first time.. he he he :)

Fish and bacon with omelet.. again this is more of an American or European breakfast. :(

I have to eat this meal even I don't like it.. It a matter of need and not of want. An advice for acidic person like me.. Don't drink orange juice on flights.. it will surely turn stomach to go wild and crazy to the rest room.

Tuding's Pork Chop

Here comes lunch after a long travel from Alabang to Carmona.
Tsaraaaan!! It's Tuding's Porkchop time. Situated beside Petron gas station near Carmona rotonda. Google Maps shows where Tuding's is located.. maps now has details for shops.. good good good..

I have to wait for at least 5 minutes before my order is served.. that is enough for me to send some text messages or write notes.

Then the short wait is over... Lunch is served. No extra fried rice for now.. :)

Tuding's meal is usually served with a sunny side up egg..

A saucer with natural vinegar and ketchup.. Yummy.. :D

Starbucks 2013 Planner

Take a look what's inside the Starbucks 2013 Planner. My office mate.. a Starbucks fanatic.. collected 17 stickers just to get this planner.

Unboxing the planner..

What's Inside.. planner comes with a magnetic book mark... the Starbucks cup..

Each month has different motivation or encouragement..

How much do you need to earn this lovely planner?
It comes with a pricey purchase of their products.. 2,020 pesos at the minimum.. Buying a 3 in 1 sachet of Nescafe at 5 pesos each.. that would be 404 sachets in total... minus the free planner that is made in China.. :D

Enjoy your coffee!!

Tuding's Beef Tapa

The sun is shining across the blue skies.. birds are chirping to the tune of Payphone by Maroon 5.. as I am walking down the streets of Carmona... I looked at my cellphone and it is already 12:10 noon. Need to fill my empty stomach after my adjustment session with the dentist... I am already as hungry as a dog... ha ha ha probably I can eat the whole elephant for now..

Then a voice is calling me to turn and look right.. well it is not really a voice.. I am probably hallucinating by now.. its the smell of fried pork that will enchant you as you pass by... tsaaaaraaan!! Tuding's.. I need to eat and the smell is very encouraging..

I looked for an empty tables just for one.. then started to order.. pork chop or beef tapa... my head and stomach is betwixt two opinions.. he he he.. OK, I'll try the Beef Tapa for now, "Isang tapa".. I have to pay P58 for meal.. but as the gay cashier said.. "Mamaya na lang po sir.."

Prepared a spoon.. fork.. and a glass of water... drink a tap water straight from the faucet... joke. Of course from the water jug.. After waiting for almost 7 minutes... then here comes my Beef Tapa.. they have cooked it well done.. just like what I preferred even I don't mentioned it. The meal always comes with a sunny side up egg and fried rice... fried rice that seemed to be taken from a half cooked rice grain.. but it tastes good and fills the hungry stomach!

Beef tapa is just right.. what I loved in Tuding's is their vinegar or suka.. hmmmm.. it tastes very good.. probably because it is natural coconut vinegar, just like in our province..

An extra rice will cost you P13.. and will cause your belly to swell 2 inch further.. he he he.. Indeed it was a good meal after all.

Place: Non airconditioned but well  ventilated by electric fans
Can accomodate large groups, they have lots of tables and chairs
Food: Beef Tapa
Price: P58... extra rice is P13
Waiting time: 5-8 minutes
Service Crew: Smiling and Courteous
Overall: Good place to eat

While waiting for the meal to be served

Beef Tapa is served

Jollibee Regular Yum Burger

Panalo ito.. libre.. he he he

Others
Simple, malinis, at may catch phrase na "Langhap Sarap" para madali mong maalala.

The Sandwich Guy

The Sandwich Guy!

"Fresh not Fried".

Halaga -

"What's siksik mama?"

Presyo = P17

Doughnut Buy or Do Not Buy

1. May National Doughnut Day pala sa US.. ano to holiday rin sa kanila?... o baka regular working day rin?...

"Eat Healthy and Observe Moderation."

At anumang sobra ay nakakasama.. Enjoy!

What NOT To Eat, and Why – No. 2 – Doughnuts

3 days ago (June 5) was National Doughnut Day in the US. Which is a good time for something which might seem like blasphemy to some of you – you shouldn’t eat doughnuts.

Why?

1. They are fried – Meaning that they are rich in fat. You can see in the food label below that each doughnut has about 10 grams of fat – 16% of a day’s recommended value (and this is just a generic one. Chain store ones may contain even more). Eat 3-4 doughnuts (one is never enough, is it?) and this covered 50% of your allowed fat consumption for the day. And the fat itself is the bad type, as you’ll see below.

2. They are full of sugar – Sugar is bad for. It raises your insulin level, which, if done too much (if you eat a lot of sugary foods) will cause weight gain and will put you at risk for diabetes. Even though there are times when sugar is important for our body (after exercise, for example), during a regular day the body doesn’t need sugar in the form of sugar. So what does it do with it? It turns it into fat…
Add to that teeth problems, since the bacteria in your mouth enjoy the feast as much as you do, and you’ve got yourself a sac full of problems.

3. They are made of white flour – The latest dietary guidelines advise that at least half of all the grains in our diet will be whole grain. White flour, also called “refined flour”, is missing the fiber-rich parts of the grain, leaving the least nutritious part of the grain. The fiber-parts of the grain are important for our metabolism, give a sense of fullness (meaning you don’t have to eat as much), and help in preventing colon cancer.White flour, on the other hand, lacks vitamins and minerals. It also has a high glycemic index (see the article about French fries), meaning it causes a rapid spike in our blood sugars. Diets rich in high glycemic index foods have been linked to an increased risk for diabetes, heart disease and obesity.

Mmmmm…. doughnut….. NOT. Photo by James Jordan

4. They contain trans fat – As you can read in the previous article in this column (about French fries), trans fat is bad for you, since it raises your chances of having atherosclerosis and heart attacks.

5. They contain a lot of calories – 200 calories per doughnut. Eat a few more and you have eaten a whole meal of junk.

6. You usually can’t stop at one – They are small, they taste good, and one is never enough. You need at least another one to go with the iced coffee you just bought… Before you notice, (at least) 2-3 have gone down your throat.

Many people look at doughnuts as breakfast food, which is a big mistake. It will sky-rocket your blood sugar, which will then fall soon-after, just to leave you hungry for more food.

Nutrition data for a sugared or glazed doughnut (data taken from nutritiondata.com)

What’s an alternative?

That’s a tough one. Since doughnuts are made of unhealthy ingredients through and through, there isn’t much you can change about them to make them healthier (besides maybe trying whole wheat doughnuts, but that won’t change the other unhealthy stuff in them).

What you can do is eat other things to satisfy your sweet tooth: A study from 2006 showed that a sweet tooth can be satisfied by eating fruit instead.

Got any tricks of your own for conquering that sweet tooth? Share them in the comments.

Pan De Coco

"But wait! not just one.. but two!.. if you call within this period you get the third one for free.." Yun ang nangyari, nabigyan ako ng not just 1 but 3 waffles...yeheeeey!

Pagkain - ★★★
Walang kahirap hirap kainin.

Halaga - ★★★★
Mura siya as in mura talaga... isipin mo sa halagang P15 ay makakapagmeryenda ka na. Di ka mabubusog sa 1 waffle lang.. pwede mong dagdagan ng 1 pang extra para solb ka... pero kung out of budget ka na ay uminom ka na lang ng maraming tubig pagkatapos.. he he he
Price starts at P15 - P25 depende sa flavor

Others

McDonalds Chicken Spaghetti Meal
